In the second of three Nordic Combined Summer Grand Prix events, Ben Loomis speeds to 18th position in Villach, Austria. Summer Grand Prix being equivalent to Winter World Cup.
Villach is a Gundersen NH HS98/10.0 Km competition.
20 yr. old Loomis, from Eau Claire, WI (Flying Eagles Ski Club) lead this team of USA Nordic Combined Young Guns to personal bests for all three of them today. For both Loomis and Jasper Good, Villach marks their second event to score Summer Grand Prix points. Jared Shumate had a career-best in only his second ever Summer Grand Prix competition.
Loomis discussed his event and said, “I’m very happy to achieve a personal best today. Things went very well. My competition jump was an improvement and overall solid. This put me in a great position to fight during the race. I had a ton of fun on the high paced track and felt that I laid it all out there.”
USA Nordic Team Director, Clint Jones, said of Loomis’ finish, “It’s great to see him consistently improving. These events are a good barometer to see where we’re at as we approach the winter competition schedule. Ben has put a lot of focused energy into his training and for it to be paying off is exciting.”
