THE REVITALIZED SNOWFLAKE SKI CLUB YOUTH SKI JUMPING PROGRAM
Snowflake Ski Club, Westby, WI
The Snowflake Ski Club is celebrating its 102nd year in 2025 and we’re excited to have both the big hill and junior hills tournaments in one big festive weekend, Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, 2025. After a period of years with no youth ski jumping program, we have a renewed program with over 20 area youth learning to ski jump. Some of our ski jumpers are 3rd generation ski jumpers, and we even have three high schoolers trying out ski jumping for the very first time.
If you come to Snowflake Ski Club, you’ll feel the excitement we have for helping kids learn to ski jump. As an all-volunteer club, our coaches are coaching kids in addition to all of the other tasks they carry out. For example, Coach Matt Keuler is also on the club board, works on the hills and is the “Voice of Snowflake”, our renowned tournament announcer. Derek Lunde, Jeana Stuber (formerly Fremstad), and Augie Schini round out our coaching team, with a depth of knowledge and personal experience ski jumping.
An exciting addition in process at our club is “Operation Plastic”- the installation of plastic on four junior hills (5, 10, 20, and 40). We have completed our fundraising phase and installation of plastic on the two smallest hills. We held our first ever tournament on plastic this fall and thank all of the volunteers, ski jumpers, families, spectators and donors for helping make this happen! We plan to install plastic on the remaining two hills in 2025.
We would love to see you at the Snowflake Ski Jumping Big Hill and Junior Hills Tournaments, Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, 2025! For more information, please see snowflakeskiclub.com and follow us on our Snowflake Ski Club Facebook page.
