PARK CITY, Utah November 27, 2019 – Former Ski Jumping Canada Head Coach Gregor Linsig has joined USA Nordic as the World Cup Jump Coach for the Nordic Combined Team. Linsig will join Head Coach Nick Hendrickson this season as the team travels across the globe competing in the Nordic Combined World Cup.
“We are very excited to add Gregor to our team for the season,” says USA Nordic Executive Director Bill Demong. “He’s been a backbone of North American ski jumping and nordic combined for decades and will be the perfect partner for Nick Hendrickson to continue to build the US Nordic Combined program.”
Linsig coached for the Park City Ski Club from 1996-2005 before moving onto the Canadian Ski Jumping Team. “Coming back to work for the Americans really excites me because that’s where it all started for myself,” says Linsig. During those years in Park City, Linsig actually coached Hendrickson. “I used to coach Nick at a young age and I consider us very good friends. We share the same philosophy and I really look forward to working for him,” says Linsig.
Hendrickson is about to enter his inaugural World Cup season as a head coach and feels this hire adds a lot of value to the team. “Gregor has decades of coaching experience from club level to the Olympics. I’m really excited to have his experience and positivity on our team,” says Hendrickson.
Hendrickson and new hire Linsig will lead the nordic combined team into their World Cup season on Friday in Ruka, Finland. “I just want to help these guys become the best jumpers they can be and to assist Nick with any experience I can bring to the table,” says Linsig.
