Scott Smith honored with USA Nordic Ptarmigan Award

Park City, UT – Scott Smith of the Central Division’s Norge Ski Club in Fox River Grove, IL was awarded USANS highest honor for service and contributions to the Ski Jumping & Nordic Combined. USANS Executive Director, Billy Demong, made the presentation in front of an enthusiastic crowd immediately following the LL Bean Large Hill National Championships help at Utah Olympic Park. Scott is a Hall of Fame inductee and 5 time USSA Coach of the Year recipient who continues to produce many of the top US athletes. “Scott is one of those folks who has touched everyone in this community with his passion for the sport and commitment to recruiting and developing athletes.” Said Demong. “It was obvious to the committee that Scott was deserving of the award and the reception by the large crowd of jumpers, parents and coaches was overwhelmingly positive. Scott has perennially gone above and beyond his duties at Norge to engage in volunteer activities that support the broader community and provide opportunities to athletes to develop as far as their hard work and desire can take them.”
