Team USA Well Represented at Youth Olympics
Lillehammer, Norway (Feb. 16, 2016 ) – The Youth Olympics took place in Norway this year and USA
representation at the event was plentiful. Three United States athletes were present for the skiing
competitions and competed in the event that spanned over ten days. Casey Larson participated in men’s
ski jumping, Logan Sankey jumped in the women’s ski jumping competition and Ben Loomis came
home with a silver medal in men’s nordic combined. As a first timer at the youth olympics, Loomis had
a lot of good memories of his competition and the event as a whole.
“The Youth Olympics was an exceptionally run event that had a lot of amazing young athletes in
attendance,” Loomis said. “Coming home with a silver medal was very surreal and seeing the other
USA athletes compete was very exciting.”
These Youth Winter Olympic Games that took place were only the second running of the event. The
event continues to grow as this year there were 70 events compared to 63 in the inaugural year. The
games will be heading to Switzerland in 2020 with the hope that participation and attendance continues
to grow.
