Park City, Utah (December 9, 2024) – Athletes from across the country gathered in Steamboat Springs this weekend for the annual Winter Start competitions. The events featured jumps on the HS100 hill on both Saturday and Sunday, as well as on the HS75 hill on Saturday. Both days of HS100 competition served as qualifiers for the Junior World Championships, with Saturday doubling as a U.S. Cup event.
On Saturday, Canada’s Rayna Leachman dominated the U20 Female category on the HS100 with impressive jumps of 91.5 and 88.5 meters, securing first place. Ella Wilson, representing the Rocky Mountain Division, claimed second with a pair of stylish jumps measuring 84.5 and 83.5 meters. Rounding out the podium was Haley Brabec, also a part of the Rocky Mountain Division, delivered jumps of 62.5 and 68.5 meters to take third place.
Sunday’s jumping competition was highlighted by another strong performance from Ella Wilson, who claimed victory with two well-executed jumps of 85 and 88 meters. Canada’s Rayna Leachman secured second place, while her teammate Sofia Aragon rounded out the podium in third.
In the U20 Male category, Henry Loher from the Eastern Division led the field with standout performances on both days. On Saturday, Loher soared into triple digits with an impressive 100-meter jump, followed by a solid 98.5 meters on his second attempt, securing first place. Arthur Tirone, representing the Rocky Mountain Division, claimed second with jumps of 94 and 91 meters, while Maxim Glyvka of the Central Division rounded out the podium in third with jumps of 92 and 89 meters.
Sunday’s competition saw Loher once again on top, maintaining his dominance. Glyvka moved up to take second place with jumps of 90 and 95 meters, while Tirone earned another podium finish in third, posting jumps of 86 and 95 meters.
