The Itasca Ski & Outing Club in Coleraine, MN, acquired a ski jumping museum in 2025. There are several Minnesota Ski Jumping Clubs on display in the Museum, so it was decided to name it “The Minnesota Ski Jumping Museum”.
The building and most of the contents were donated by Mike Enich, a ski jumper at the neighboring Hibbing Ski Club, which no longer exists.
With a donation, we were able to get the building moved 15 miles to the ski jumping venue at Mt. Itasca in Coleraine. Helping with the move and setting up of the building were former Itasca Ski Jumpers: Kurt Mangseth, Rick Anderson, Nate Salisbury, Jim Maki, and Doug Maki. Also helping out were parents of current ski jumpers of the Itasca Ski & Outing Club.
The museum’s collection includes photos, trophies, posters, skis, sweaters, pins, patches, and other memorabilia from various clubs in Minnesota. Memorabilia and pictures of ski jumping go back as far as 1905, when the Itasca Ski Club was founded.
Articles and pictures of National Champions and Olympians produced by the Coleraine Ski Club, from the pioneer days to the present, can be found in the Museum. These include: Ole Mangseth, Barney Riley, Rolf Mangseth, Roy Laramie, Eugene Wilson, Bob Riley, and Jim Maki. The Museum also has a large display of all 20 Olympic ski jumpers and Nordic Combined athletes from Minnesota.
We are seeking additional information and collectibles from other Minnesota Ski Jumping Clubs to add to the Museum. Please contact Jim Maki @ 218-929-4052 or Doug Maki @ 218-256-6431 if you have items to add.
