LOTS of activity happened around the globe this past weekend for our USA Nordic teams!
Ski Jumping- The famous Four Hills Tournament wrapped up in Bischofshofen, Austria on Friday. USA’s Keven Bickner was the top American, finishing in 45th place. After traveling to 4 different hills in a week, the World Cup took a breather for the weekend, preparing for next weekend’s events in Wisla, Poland.
However, plenty of other action occurred on the Continental Cup and FIS Cup levels. Mike Glasder headed to Titisee-Neustadt, Germany for a COC with solid results, finishing 19th and 16th. Also picking up COC points were Casey Larson who finished 24th on Saturday, and AJ Brown, finishing 28th- grabbing his first ever COC points!
Nordic Combined- US World Cup athletes competed in the frozen tundra of Lahti, Finland (site of the 2017 World Ski Championships) led by veteran Bryan Fletcher. Bryan, showing his top cross country form, moved up from 22nd after jumping to finish 15th on Saturday with the sixth fastest ski time, and jumped to 28th and skied up to 16th place on Sunday. The combiners will compete in World Cup action next weekend in Val de Fiemme, Italy. The US did not participate in Continental Cup action in Norway, preparing for action in Ruka, Finland next weekend.
Many regional and club competitions are being held this time of year as well, and the US Cup resumes January 21-22 at Norge Ski Club in Illinois. For more results, see www.USANordic.org/results.
