PARK CITY, Utah (July 24, 2020) – In April, USA Nordic named Andy Chen Chief Medical Officer for USA Nordic. Since then, Dr. Lauren Borowski and Dr. James Glazer have joined USA Nordic’s medical staff. Borowski will lead the men’s ski jumping team and Glazer will lead the nordic combined team.
Borowski, a Sports Medicine specialist at NYU, got her first taste of ski jumping last winter on a trip to Predazzo, Italy. “It was a great trip that I will never forget,” said Borowski. While ski jumping is new to her, Borowski grew up skiing and completed her fellowship at the University of Utah. “Some of my favorite days were in the ski clinic at Snowbird,” says Borowski.
“It is an honor to care for world class athletes and I am humbled to do so,” says Borowski, who will travel internationally to cover competitions while collaborating with other medical providers from around the world. “My goal is to provide these athletes and coaches with the highest quality of medical care and support.”
James Glazer is a colleague of Dr. Andy Chen at the Alpine Clinic in North Conway, New Hampshire. Glazer has a long background working within skiing, “For the last 20 years I have been very fortunate to combine my personal passion for snow sports with involvement in the skiing community,” says Glazer
Glazer has cared for US Biathletes in Maine, traveled on US Ski Team trips across Europe as well as the Southern Hemisphere, and has covered the Freeskiing World Championships. Through these experiences, Glazer has learned a lot. “I can’t remember a single trip that went exactly as planned. Whether it’s a last minute venue change, or an international pandemic, unexpected challenges always seem to pop up. I have always felt that flexibility, communication, and a good attitude are the most essential things to pack in my ski bag.”
In their short time already with USA Nordic, Borowski and Glazer have been integral in the organizations productive response to Covid-19. They will continue to lead this response throughout the year with USA Nordic Chief Medical Officer, Andy Chen.
In addition, Borowski and Glazer aim to provide USA Nordic athletes and staff with the highest level of care, promote health and well being across the organization, and to scientifically evaluate athletes to determine training needs and focuses.
